If you never made it up to Joseph Decuis to sample their wagyu right off of the farm, you might have missed your opportunity to dine with Chef Butts. He announced officially this morning on Facebook that he will be leaving the Roanoke restaurant as of January 1st to open The Golden in downtown Fort Wayne.
The Golden started as a pop-up collaboration between Butts and his sous chef Sean Richardson. The pop-up concept quickly grew and became a favorite of the criminally underserved Fort Wayne cocktail lovers. The new restaurant will include the cocktail service, as well as lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.
His wife and Decuis sommelier Carmen McGee expanded on the initial details, saying that the restaurant will take up residence in the under-construction Ash Building, a massive building project by Ash Brokerage that will eventually include luxury residential space, green space and commercial space for retail and restaurants.
Butts and McGee are estimating that the project will be complete in spring, with an opening date set for sometime in April if all goes according to plan. Check out this animated tour of the building and space published by Fort Wayne’s News-Sentinel, and keep us in your RSS feed for when the restaurant opens. We’ll let you know.
